In this episode of WAIB’s “Paving the way for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” interview series, Dr Noemi Sinkovics (University of Glasgow) is interviewing Dr Tina Ramkalawan on Brunel University’s ELEVATE initiative to support Researchers of Color.

Dr. Tina Ramkalawan provides her perspectives on supporting researchers of color in the UK Higher Education sector and introduces us to an initiative at Brunel University. She explains why they decided to use the term researchers of color instead of the more frequently adopted umbrella term BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic).

Dr. Tina Ramkalawan is Director of the Graduate School at Brunel University London. Tina has a background in multidisciplinary collaborative research, with expertise in psychology, health and medical research. She is part of various sector working groups, including Vitae working groups on Researcher Careers and on Postgraduate Researcher well-being and mental health. She has a keen understanding of UK Higher Education and an interest in emerging challenges and developments around research culture.
